F-type connectors are the most popular 75 Ohm cable connectors on the market today. F-type connectors are round, RF coax connectors, usually put on the ends of RG59 coax or RG6 coax cables. They are most common in CATV cable applications. Most likely, if you have cable television, the cable TV connector is an F-type connector. In fact, they are so common that they are sometimes called CATV connectors.
RG-6/U is a common type of coaxial cable used in a wide variety of residential and
commercial applications. The term RG6 refers to a wide variety of cable designs, which differ from one another in shielding characteristics, center conductor
composition, and dielectric type. RG6 was originally a military spec, but is now obsolete; in practice, the term RG6 is generally used to refer to coaxial cables with
an 18 AWG center conductor and 75 ohm characteristic impedance.
